FinPro Industry Intelligence Monthly Insight October 2025

October 2025 has been defined by a clear “dual trend.” On one hand, global regulation is tightening significantly—particularly in UK company registration and MetaTrader platform access. On the other, new opportunities, like the EU’s MiCA framework and the FATF’s reclassification of key African markets, are opening doors for well prepared businesses.

For fintech entrepreneurs and global business leaders, navigating this complex landscape is the key to success. FinPro Consulting is here to break down the month’s most critical changes and what they mean for your business.

Company Incorporation: Transparency is the New Normal

This month, two major global hubs updated their company registry rules, both signaling a move toward greater verification.

United Kingdom: Mandatory Director ID Verification is Here

As part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, the UK’s Companies House has confirmed that mandatory identity verification for all new and existing directors and Persons of Significant Control (PSCs) will begin on 18 November 2025.

This is one of the most significant changes to UK corporate governance in decades. For our international clients, it introduces a critical new compliance step to UK company formation.

If you are planning to launch in the UK or already operate a UK entity, you must prepare for this verification process. FinPro Consulting can guide you through the new requirements seamlessly to ensure your company remains compliant.

Nigeria: CAC Digital Portal & Fee Update

Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) rolled out its new online registration portal and updated fee structure on October 1st.

This digital upgrade is a positive step toward simplifying the process. However, as with any new system, early adopters may face an adaptation period. We advise clients to double check new fee and data requirements before submission.

Financial Licensing: Opportunity Meets Strict Enforcement

Regulators sent a clear message this month: they welcome compliant innovators but will aggressively crack down on non-compliant entities.

Crypto Compliance Milestones

Fintech giant Revolut secured one of the first MiCA (Markets in Crypto Assets) authorizations via Cyprus (CySEC), allowing it to offer compliant crypto services across all 30 EEA countries. Meanwhile, the UK’s FCA lifted its ban on retail crypto derivatives, permitting certain crypto ETNs as of October 8th.

This is a major win for the crypto industry. MiCA provides a clear operational path across the EU, while the UK’s move opens the door to regulated retail crypto products.

For crypto firms looking to enter the European market, now is the time to build your strategy around the MiCA framework. Our licensing team is actively helping clients prepare MiCA compliant applications.

Asia & Offshore: High Standards, Tough Enforcement

In Singapore, Reap Group secured a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from MAS. In contrast, regulators in Mauritius and Labuan took sweeping enforcement actions in October, revoking over a dozen licenses from non compliant entities.

Singapore’s MAS continues to prove its support for high quality fintech operators. However, the actions in Mauritius and Labuan are a stark reminder: getting a license is just the beginning; ongoing compliance is critical. Regulators are actively weeding out bad actors.

Banking & AML: Major Headwinds Clear for Key Markets

For businesses operating in Africa, October’s FATF plenary delivered some of the best news this year.

FATF: Nigeria & South Africa Removed from “Grey List”

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has officially removed Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, and Burkina Faso from its “list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring” (the “grey list”).

This is a game changer. Previously, transactions with entities from these nations often triggered Enhanced Due diligence (EDD) from banks, leading to difficult account openings and payment delays.

With these countries off the list, we expect global banks and EMIs to lower their risk ratings for these markets. This will significantly simplify banking and payment processing for fintechs expanding in Africa or serving African clients.

KYC Enforcement: Bank Pressure Remains

In the US, the OCC announced an enforcement action against a Florida based bank for deficient BSA/AML (Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering) controls.

Pressure on banks from regulators ultimately transfers to you, the customer. Bank “de-risking” is still a major hurdle. For startups, preparing a flawless, well organized KYC package is the single most important task for successfully opening a corporate bank account.

Critical Infrastructure: The Rising Bar for Tech & Compliance

MetaTrader (MT4/MT5): The “New Gauntlet” for Platform Access

Industry reports confirm that MetaQuotes has permanently tightened its KYC and compliance checks for new partners.

This is critical for the brokerage industry. MetaQuotes now strictly requires White Label applicants to prove they hold a proper financial services license in their jurisdiction of operation.

The era of “get the platform first, get the license later” is over. For new brokerage setups, your first step must be securing a regulatory license. FinPro Consulting’s “license first” strategy ensures our clients secure their regulatory status before approaching MetaQuotes, guaranteeing a smooth onboarding.

Digital Ops Costs: Domain & Software Hikes

Domain registry Identity Digital raised wholesale prices on over 200 TLDs. Separately, Google Workspace plans saw a ~20% price increase in 2025 to reflect the integration of its Gemini AI features.

These are new operational costs to factor into your budget. While small individually, they add up. We advise clients to account for these new “normal” prices in their 2026 financial planning.

The FinPro Consulting Takeaway: Finding Certainty in a Changing World

From industry consolidation (Hawksford, Acclime) to MetaQuotes’ compliance firewall, the October 2025 landscape shows our industry is maturing.

In an environment of tightening regulations and clearer opportunities, fragmented services are no longer enough. You need a strategic partner who understands the new UK incorporation rules, the banking implications of FATF’s de-listing of Nigeria, and the correct path to a financial license and trading platform.
